The Games were first held in 1966 at the suggestion of the first woman to be Mayor of Ringwood, the late Elisabeth Penny.

Supported by the Lions and Apex Clubs initially, they were held at Jubilee Park until recent years

The Games showcases Scottish heritage and traditions with sixteen or more Pipe Bands and more than a hundred highland dancers competing. In addition Scottish country dancing is also on display.

Strength and prowess is the Heavy Games through events such as Tossing the Caber and Hammer Throw. Our “Gathering of the Clans” brings up to 30 Scottish Clans to promote their personal history and heritage, together with a wide range of stalls. The stalls include Scottish Food, memorabilia, clothing, music and many other goods and cuisine.

There are a lot of other activities at the gathering that cater for young children, teenagers and adults.
